Advertising
It refers to impersonal form of communication which is
paid for by an identified sponsor/marketer to promote
some goods or services.
It means that there is no face to face contact between the
prospect and the advertiser, the identified sponsor has to
bear the cost of communication.

Sales promotion
It refers to short term incentives, which are designed to
encourage the buyers to make immediate purchase of a
product or service.
Sales promotion activities include offering cash
discounts, sales contests, free gift offers, and free
sample distribution.
