What the task asks for
Read the world plate map (Fig. $\displaystyle 2.3$), choose any two plates, and fill three columns for each: name of the plate, the continents it carries, the ocean it carries.
Worked example (yours may differ — any two plates are correct)
Indo-Australian plate — Continents: Australia, and India with the land around it. Ocean: the Indian Ocean.
African plate — Continent: Africa. Ocean: the eastern part of the Atlantic Ocean and the western part of the Indian Ocean.
A good answer must contain
Two plates chosen from those named in the chapter: Pacific, Eurasian, African, North American, South American, Indo-Australian, Antarctic.
The continent and ocean read off the map, not from memory — trace the plate's boundary with your finger first.
Proof that you noticed the three types of plate: a continental plate carries a continent, an oceanic plate such as the Pacific plate carries only ocean floor (write 'none' in the continent column), and a mixed plate carries both.
