Fertilisation is the process about to happen.
The pollen tube grows down through the style and carries the male gamete into the ovary, where it reaches an ovule.
Inside the ovule the male gamete fuses with the egg cell — that fusion of gametes is fertilisation.
The immediate product is a zygote, which then develops into an embryo; the ovule becomes the seed and the ovary around it enlarges into the fruit.
