With the help of a circuit diagram, explain the working of a p-n junction diode as a full-wave rectifier. Also draw its input and output waveforms.

Explanation of working $\displaystyle 1$ Circuit Diagram of full wave rectifier $\displaystyle 1$ Input \
Let input voltage at A w.r.t. the centre tap at any instant is positive, then voltage at B will be negative. So, diode $\displaystyle \mathrm{D}_{1}$ gets forwarded biased & $\displaystyle \mathrm{D}_{2}$ gets reverse biased. Hence output current is obtained. When voltage at A becomes -ve ; then voltage at B would be + ve , hence $\displaystyle \mathrm{D}_{1}$, gets reverse biased & $\displaystyle \mathrm{D}_{2}$ gets forwarded biased . So output current is again obtained as shown in the figure.
