(a)Briefly describe how the current sensitivity of a moving coil galvanometer can be increased.(b)A galvanometer shows full scale deflection for current $\displaystyle I_{g}$. A resistance $\displaystyle \mathrm{R}_{1}$ is required to convert it into a voltmeter of range ( $\displaystyle 0-\mathrm{V}$ ) and a resistance $\displaystyle \mathrm{R}_{2}$ to convert it into a voltmeter of range $\displaystyle (0-2 \mathrm{V})$. Find the resistance of the galvanometer.

Briefly describe how the current sensitivity of a moving coil galvanometer can be increased.
(b)
A galvanometer shows full scale deflection for current $\displaystyle I_{g}$.
Marking-scheme solution
(a) Current sensitivity of moving coil galvanometer can be increased by
(1) increasing number of turns in the coil \(\displaystyle \left(I_{s} \alpha N\right)\)
(2) increasing magnetic field strength \(\displaystyle \left(I_{s} \alpha B\right)\)
(3) using a material having lesser value of torsional constant \(\displaystyle \left(I_{s} \alpha \frac{1}{k}\right)\)
