A galvanometer shows full scale deflection for a current $\displaystyle \mathrm{I}_{\mathrm{g}}$. If a shunt of resistance $\displaystyle \mathrm{S}_{1}$ is connected to the galvanometer, it gets converted into an ammeter of range $\displaystyle (0-\mathrm{I})$.
