Because of stable half-filled d5 in Cr+ and completely filled d-orbitals in Cu+.
Removal of electron is difficult so ionisation enthalpies are higher.
(b)
Small atoms like H,C etc fit into the voids of transition metals in their crystal
lattice resulting in the formation of interstitial compounds.
