In the plot of molar conductivity $\displaystyle \left(\mathbf{\Lambda}_{\mathrm{m}}\right)$ Vs. square root of concentration $\displaystyle (\sqrt{\mathrm{C}})$, following curves are obtained for two electrolytes X and Y :
Answer the following :(i)Predict the nature of electrolyte X and Y.(ii)What happens on extrapolation of $\displaystyle \mathbf{\Lambda}_{\mathrm{m}}$ to concentration approaching zero for electrolytes X and Y ?

Marking-scheme solution
(i) \(\displaystyle X=\) Strong electrolyte, \(\displaystyle Y=\) Weak electrolyte
(ii) Curve \(\displaystyle X\) intercepts at \(\displaystyle Y\)-axis to obtain \(\displaystyle \mathbf{\Lambda}_{\mathrm{m}}^{\circ}\) whereas curve \(\displaystyle Y\) runs parallel to \(\displaystyle Y\)-axis and no \(\displaystyle \mathbf{\Lambda}_{\mathrm{m}}^{0}\) is obtained.
