-Restriction enzyme cut the strand of DNA a little away from the Centre of the palindrome site, but between the same two bases on the opposite strands. This leaves single stranded portion at the two ends known as sticky ends.
Role of sticky ends :
Sticky ends forms hydrogen bond with their complementary cut counter part/ they help injoining of vector DNA and foreign DNA during rDNA technology/ stickiness of ends facilitates the action of enzyme DNA ligase
