Marking-scheme solution
(i)
\(\displaystyle R_{S}=R_{1}+R_{2}\)
Here \(\displaystyle \mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{S}}=10 \Omega+50 \Omega=60 \Omega\)
\[\mathrm{R}_{3}=30 \Omega
\]
\(\displaystyle \frac{1}{R_{P}}=\frac{1}{R_{S}}+\frac{1}{R_{3}}\)
\(\displaystyle \therefore \mathrm{R}=\frac{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{S}} \mathrm{R}_{3}}{\mathrm{R}_{\mathrm{S}}+\mathrm{R}_{3}}=\frac{60 \Omega \times 30 \Omega}{(60+30) \Omega}=20 \Omega\)
(ii)
\(\displaystyle I=\frac{V}{R}\)
\[=\frac{6 \mathrm{~V}}{20 \Omega}=0.3 \mathrm{~A}
