Explain why diffraction of sound is more common in daily experience than that of light.
Marking-scheme solution
For diffraction to take place, the size of obstacle has to be comparable to the wavelength of the wave. In case of sound wave, the wavelength is almost comparable to the size of the obstacles around us, while wavelength of light is much smaller than the dimensions of most obstacles around us. Hence diffraction of sound is more common in daily experience than that of light.
