A square loop of side $\displaystyle 10$ cm, free to rotate about a vertical axis coinciding with its one arm, is initially held perpendicular to a uniform horizontal magnetic field of $\displaystyle 0 \cdot 2$ T. If it is rotated at the uniform speed of $\displaystyle 60$ rpm, find the emf induced in the loop.
Marking-scheme solution
$\displaystyle e=\mathrm{BA} \omega \sin \omega t$
$\displaystyle e=0.2 \times 100 \times 10^{-4} \times 2 \pi \times \sin 2 \pi t$
$\displaystyle e=4 \pi \times 10^{-3} \sin 2 \pi t \mathrm{~V}$
$\displaystyle =12.56 \times 10^{-3} \sin 2 \pi t \mathrm{~V}$
