If $\displaystyle \overrightarrow{\mathrm{a}}$ and $\displaystyle \overrightarrow{\mathrm{b}}$ are two non-collinear vectors, then find $\displaystyle x$, such that $\displaystyle \vec{\alpha}=(x-2)$ $\displaystyle \vec{\mathrm{a}}+\vec{\mathrm{b}}$ and $\displaystyle \vec{\beta}=(3+2 x) \vec{\mathrm{a}}-2 \vec{\mathrm{b}}$ are collinear.
Marking-scheme solution
$\displaystyle \vec{\alpha}$ and $\displaystyle \vec{\beta}$ are collinear
\[\Rightarrow \frac{x-2}{3+2 x}=\frac{1}{-2}
