Find the domain of f( x )= sin^-1(- x^2).
Find the domain of $\displaystyle f(\mathrm{x})=\sin ^{-1}\left(-\mathrm{x}^{2}\right)$.
Marking-scheme solution
(a)
$\displaystyle -1 \leq-\mathrm{x}^{2} \leq 1 \Rightarrow-1 \leq-\mathrm{x}^{2} \leq 0$
$\displaystyle \Rightarrow 0 \leq \mathrm{x}^{2} \leq 1 \Rightarrow-1 \leq \mathrm{x} \leq 1$
