“Some economists argue that once a technology proves to be profitable and becomes widely adopted, subsidies should be gradually withdrawn.”Defend or refute the given statement with valid arguments.
Marking-scheme solution
The given statement is defended. Subsidies may be gradually withdrawn once technology becomes profitable as agricultural subsidies have proved to be a huge burden on the finances of the government. Moreover, farmers in the prosperous regions largely benefited from farm subsidies rather than the target group.
