What is Henry's law? Give one application of it.
Marking-scheme solution
Henry's law states that the partial vapour pressure of a gas is directly proportional to the mole fraction of the gas in the solution \(\displaystyle / \mathrm{p}=\mathrm{K}_{\mathrm{H}} \mathrm{x}\) where \(\displaystyle \mathrm{p}=\) partial pressure of gas, \(\displaystyle \mathrm{x}=\) mole fraction in solution, and \(\displaystyle \mathrm{k}_{\mathrm{H}}\) is Henry's constant.
Application: To increase the solubility of \(\displaystyle \mathrm{CO}_{2}\) in soft drinks and soda water, the bottle is sealed under high pressure / to minimize the painful effects accompanying the
