State Kohlrausch's law of independent migration of ions. With the help of a curve, explain why it is not easy to determine $\displaystyle \mathbf{\Lambda}_{\mathrm{m}}^{\circ}$ for weak electrolytes by extrapolating the concentration - molar conductivity curve, as it is for strong electrolytes.
Marking-scheme solution
Limiting molar conductivity is equal to the sum of individual contributions of
cation and anion.
Because for weak electrolyte, on extrapolation, the curve runs parallel to the
y-axis and does not intercept as strong electrolyte does.
