State:(a)Kohlrausch law of independent migration of ions.(b)Faraday's first law of electrolysis.
State:
(a)
Kohlrausch law of independent migration of ions.
(b)
Faraday's first law of electrolysis.
Marking-scheme solution
a) Limiting molar conductivity of an electrolyte can be represented as the sum of the individual contributions of the anion and cation of the electrolyte /
\[\mathbf{\Lambda}_{m}^{\circ}=v_{+} \lambda_{+}^{\circ}+v_{-} \lambda_{-}^{\circ} \text { Here, } \lambda^{\circ}+\text { and } \lambda^{\circ}-\text { are the limiting molar conductivities of the cation }
\] and anion respectively.
b) The amount of chemical reaction which occurs at any electrode during electrolysis by a current is proportional to the quantity of electricity passed through the electrolyte. / m=ZIt where m= mass of the substance deposited , Z= electrochemical equivalent, I= current, t= time.
