An organic compound 'A' (molecular formula $\displaystyle \mathrm{C}_{8} \mathrm{H}_{8} \mathrm{O}$ ) gives $\displaystyle 2,4$-DNP test. It does not give Tollen's test, but gives a yellow precipitate 'B' with NaOH and $\displaystyle \mathrm{I}_{2}$. On drastic oxidation, it gives a carboxylic acid 'C' with formula $\displaystyle \mathrm{C}_{7} \mathrm{H}_{6} \mathrm{O}_{2}$. Identify 'A', 'B', 'C' and write the reactions involved.
