Marking-scheme solution
(i)
Goodwill = No. of years’ purchase x Average Profits
Total Profits= ₹$\displaystyle 60,000$+₹$\displaystyle 90,000$+₹$\displaystyle 1,20,000$= ₹$\displaystyle 2,70,000$
Average Profits= $\displaystyle 2,70,000$/$\displaystyle 3$= ₹$\displaystyle 90,000$
Goodwill= $\displaystyle 4$ x $\displaystyle 90,000$= ₹$\displaystyle 3,60,000$
(ii)
Goodwill = Super Profits x $\displaystyle 100$/ Rate of return
Capital Employed= ₹$\displaystyle 3,00,000$+ ₹$\displaystyle 2,00,000$= ₹$\displaystyle 5,00,000$
Normal Profit =$\displaystyle 10$% of ₹$\displaystyle 5,00,000$ = ₹$\displaystyle 50,000$
Super Profit = Average Profit- Normal Profit
Super Profit= ₹$\displaystyle 90,000$- ₹$\displaystyle 50,000$ = ₹$\displaystyle 40,000$
Goodwill= ₹$\displaystyle 40,000$ x $\displaystyle 100$/$\displaystyle 10$= ₹$\displaystyle 4,00,000$

Q.(b) Vijay, Ravi and Raman were partners………….
Ans.(i)Sacrificing share= Old share- New share

Ravi= $\displaystyle 3$/$\displaystyle 10$-$\displaystyle 2$/$\displaystyle 10$= $\displaystyle 1$/$\displaystyle 10$ (Sacrifice)
Raman= $\displaystyle 2$/$\displaystyle 10$-$\displaystyle 3$/$\displaystyle 10$= ($\displaystyle 1$/$\displaystyle 10$) (Gain)
