The two angles of a right angled triangle other than $\displaystyle 90$° are in the ratio $\displaystyle 2: 3$. Express the given situation algebraically as a system of linear equations in two variables and hence solve it.
Marking-scheme solution
Let the measures of two angles be \(\displaystyle x\) and \(\displaystyle y\)
ATQ
\[x+y=90^{\circ} \quad \ldots \text { (i) }
\]
and \(\displaystyle \frac{x}{y}=\frac{2}{3} \Rightarrow 3 x-2 y=0 \quad \ldots\) (ii)
Solving (i) and (ii), we get \(\displaystyle x=36^{\circ}, y=54^{\circ}\)
