Find a quadratic polynomial whose zeroes are $\displaystyle 2$ and $\displaystyle -\frac{7}{5}$.
Marking-scheme solution
Sum of zeroes \(\displaystyle =2+\left(-\frac{7}{5}\right)=\frac{3}{5}\)
Product of zeroes \(\displaystyle =2 \times\left(-\frac{7}{5}\right)=-\frac{14}{5}\)
∴ Required quadratic polynomial is
\[x^{2}-\frac{3}{5} x-\frac{14}{5} \text { or } 5 x^{2}-3 x-14
\]
