Two spheres $\displaystyle A$ and $\displaystyle B$ of masses $\displaystyle m_1$ and $\displaystyle m_2$ respectively collide. $\displaystyle A$ is at rest initially and $\displaystyle B$ is moving with velocity $\displaystyle v$ along $\displaystyle x$-axis. After collision $\displaystyle B$ has a velocity $\displaystyle \frac{v}{2}$ in a direction perpendicular to the original direction. The mass $\displaystyle A$ moves after collision in the direction.
Official answer
(2)
$\displaystyle \theta=\tan ^{-1}(-1 / 2)$ to the $\displaystyle x$-axis
