A bottle has an opening of radius $\displaystyle a$ and length $\displaystyle b$. A cork of length $\displaystyle b$ and radius $\displaystyle (a+\Delta a)$ where $\displaystyle (\Delta a \ll a)$ is compressed to fit into the opening completely (See figure). If the bulk modulus of cork is $\displaystyle B$ and frictional coefficient between the bottle and cork is $\displaystyle \mu$ then the force needed to push the cork into the bottle is : Figure: JEE Main Physics 2016, Mechanical Properties of Solids
