Given below are two statements : one is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R).
Assertion (A) : Treatment of bromine water with propene yields $\displaystyle 1$-bromopropan-$\displaystyle 2$-ol.
Reason (R) : Attack of water on bromonium ion follows Markovnikov rule and results in $\displaystyle 1$-bromopropan-$\displaystyle 2$-ol.
In the light of the above statements, choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below :
Official answer
(1)
Both (A) and (R) are true and (R) is the correct explanation of (A).
