Statements I: Bromination of phenol in solvent with low polarity such as $\displaystyle \mathrm{CHCl}_3$ or $\displaystyle \mathrm{CS}_2$ requires Lewis acid catalyst.
Statements II : The Lewis acid catalyst polarises the bromine to generate $\displaystyle \mathrm{Br}^{+}$.
