Evans planned his escape over long period of time

The German tutor was his accomplice / found out name of invigilator planted his accomplice to impersonate McLeery

got essential things for his escape brought into his room through fake

cut his hair with a razor

arranged for fake correction slip- asked for blanket

fake call to the Governor, mislead him- hence Governor asked

pretended to be injured by Evans

covered himself with the blanket, used pig's blood to smear himself, covered most part of his face, hair, used handkerchief to sponge trickling blood

moaned and twisted, pretending to be in pain

misled all including the Governor that he knew Evans's whereabouts

though prison authorities had taken many precautions, Evans was always prepared with a strategy / plan B ready

prison van already waiting with his accomplices for his getaway

executed his backup plan of escaping in the van when the Governor was still in a mood of self congratulation for getting the better of Evans.
