Explain the two syntax forms of 'Lookup' function.

The ‘LOOKUP’ function has two syntax forms: (i) Vector This ‘LOOKUP’ form looks in a one row or one column range for a value and then returns a value from the same position in a second one row or one column range. The syntax is LOOKUP ( lookup- value, lookup-vector, result-vector) • LOOKUP-Value is a value that LOOKUP searches for in the first vector. It can be a number, text, a logical number, name, etc. • LOOKUP- Vector is a range that contains only one row or one column. The value in LOOKUP- Vector can be text, numbers or logical values. • Result- Vector is range that contains only one row or column. It must be the same size as LOOKUP- Vector. (ii) Array It looks in the first row or column of an array for the specified value, and then returns a value from the same position in the last row or column of the array. The syntax is • LOOKUP (lookup- value-array) • LOOKUP- Value cannot find the lookup-value, it uses largest value in the array that is less than or equal to lookup-value. • If lookup-value is smaller than the smallest value in the first row or column, it returns the N/A error values. • Array is the range of cells that contains text, numbers or logical values that we want to compare with lookup-values.
