(i) Common food such as potatoes, soya, groundnuts, maize, tomatoes, chillies, sweet potatoes etc. are believed to be introduced in Europe and Asia from America.

(i) The silk routes are example of pre-modern trade and cultural links between distant parts of the world.
(ii) Chinese silk, pottery and textiles from India and Southeast Asia travelled to Europe and precious metals flowed from Europe to Asia.
(iii) Early Christian missionaries and Muslim preachers travelled this route to Asia.
(iv) Buddhism emerged from eastern India and spread in several directions through intersecting points on the silk routes.
