• It is formed after a rain shower.
It is always formed in a direction opposite to that of the Sun.

The phenomenon of the change in direction of propagation of light caused by large sized molecules/ caused by colloidal particles.

When sunlight passes through the atmosphere, fine particles in the air scatter blue light (shorter wavelengths) more than the red colour (longer wavelengths).
