When a current is passed through an aquous solution of \(\displaystyle \mathrm{CuSO}_{4}\), the pure metal from the anode dissolves in the electrolyte ( \(\displaystyle \mathrm{CuSO}_{4}\) solution) and equivalent amount of pure copper from \(\displaystyle \mathrm{CuSO}_{4}\) solution is deposited on the cathode.
